Tiwang Ningpa
Board Member

Tiwang Ningpa is a dedicated resilient science teacher who is passionate in teaching, leading extra-curricular activities, and willing to go the extra mile for his students. For close to two decades, he served as mathematics teacher with the Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGPCS) in Maryland, where he provides instructional leadership, support, and assistance to teachers in his department.

In PGPCS, he served as a leader in curriculum and pedagogy, maintained active relationships with local and regional associations of teachers in the math subject area, whilst planning, presenting lessons to facilitate students' understanding and application of mathematical concepts, and ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning.

Prior to PGPCS, Ningpa worked in international development with educators, advocates, and policymakers to end educational inequality and close opportunity gaps for students of color and those from low-income families, especially in South Africa – where he helped to advance equitable learning outcomes for students in underserved communities by supporting teachers to deliver high-quality programming to students and drive systems change through teaching, advocacy, and leadership.

Among Ningpa’s numerous academic achievements is a master’s in engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa, Post Master's certificate in Engineering from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and an Advance Professional Certificate in Teaching of Mathematics from the State of Maryland. He joined the board in 2022 and brings with him over 20 years’ experience in talent management and building strong policies and procedures with an emphasis on efficiency, support, and quality.
